Yesterday's Ride Log
Manggahan Pasig to SM City Fairview
My ride yesterday is from our home in Manggahan, Pasig going to SM Fairview in Quezon City.
| Route: Rosario / Ortigas Avenue - Libis / C5 - Katipunan / C5 - University of the Philippines (UP) - Commonwealth Avenue | |
| Travel time: | 9:25AM - 10:23AM |
| Distance traveled: | 26.62 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 20.40 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 47.00 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 23.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |

My bike locked in SM City Fairview's bike rack.

They also have ticketing system for bicycles parked in the parking area which I think is
already a good deterent against thieves.
SM City Fairview's bike rack is located at the open parking near Entrance 3 which is actually very near to my destination.
SM City Fairview to SM City North EDSA and True World Travel and Tours
I had my lunch in SM Fairview. From there, I had to proceed to SM City North EDSA then visit True World Travel and Tours for a while.
| Route: Commonwealth Avenue - Quezon City Circle - turned right to Visayas Avenue - turned left to Road 1 in Project VI - U-turn in Mindanao Avenue - turned right to North Avenue | |
| Travel time: | 1:50PM - 2:37PM |
| Distance traveled: | 17.90 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 23.10 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 50.90 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 23.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
SM City North EDSA' bike rack is located at the open parking area behind the covered car park, and that made me walked a little bit farther to my destination which is in the main building. And from there, I had to proceed to True World Travel and Tours at the corner of EDSA and West Avenue. It took me as much as 10 minutes just to walk going back to the bike rack.

My bike locked at the bike rack of SM City North EDSA.
SM City North EDSA to Alimall
I had to go to Alimall in Araneta Center, Cubao to visit my wife in her workplace. I was taking EDSA and there were lots of cars since it's Friday and already rush hour. As usual, I had to wind myself through cars to pass them ahead.
Since Alimall don't provide bike rack to biking customers, I parked my bike at the bike rack of SM Cubao located at the second floor of the car park area. From there, I had to cross to Alimall via the skywalk that connect the two malls.
| Route: EDSA - U-turn at the intersection of P. Tuazon and EDSA then turned right to Araneta Center | |
| Travel time: | 5:38PM - 6:06PM |
| Distance traveled: | 7.68 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 16.10 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 41.50 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 23.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
My wife and I had our snacks in Jollibee located at the ground level of Alimall. After we finished our snacks, we decided to go home. My wife had to take a jeepney ride going home and proced to the jeepney stand just a stone throw away from Alimall. I also had to go back to the bike rack in SM Cubao to get my bike.
Alimall to Manggahan Pasig
My wife challenged me for a race, of who would arrive home first. She would give me a reward if I can get home ahead of her. After that, she walked right away to the jeepney stop.
While I was on my way going to my bike, I met several friends along the way. That caused me a delay of almost 15 minutes from the time my wife boarded a jeepney.
| Route: P. Tuazon St. - 15th Avenue - Boni Serrano - C5 - turned left to Ortigas Avenue | |
| Travel time: | 7:25PM - 7:54PM |
| Distance traveled: | 8.66 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 17.60 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 45.40 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 23.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
My wife arrived home only 5 minutes ahead of me. If not for the delay, I could have arrived home 10 minutes ahead of her...
Total distance of my ride yesterday is 60.86 kilometers.

You do love to bike a lot, don't you? Ingat lang sa daan, masyadong chaotic ang traffic parang walang sumusunod sa traffic laws and rules of the road sa atin.
Btw,are the bike racks within eyesight of security guards? Maski kasi naka-chain yung bike mo hindi immune iyan sa bolt cutter.
Great job Dodong! Not only are you getting a great work out, but it's a green way to travel. You should start a trend and maybe the carbon emissions will be lowered in QC.
@ Angelo: That's right. It's a green way to travel. I hope a lot of Filipinos will be doing the same. Right now, there's still a big percentage of the Filipinos that think bike commuting is ridiculous. As for starting this trend, there are already a lot of organized cycling groups here in Metro Manila and they even operated their own websites...
@ bertN: That's right. As for the traffic situation here in the Philippines, extreme care should be observed by bicycle riders...
May security guards naman sa bike racks. Talagang hindi oobra yung cable lock sa bolt cutter.
@ VK: So, how do you find biking? do you enjoy about it a lot? We are blessed with two seasons here in the Philippines. We can bike the whole year round :)
@ Francesca: Hi, Amy. That's right. Pwedeng buhatin at isabit sa taas ang bike during sa baha. Ang SUV, talagang lulubog sa baha 'yan :D Hehehe, inggit lang ang walang bike :D :D :D
