Today's Ride Log
Yesterday's ride log is posted here: http://travelogue.digitalrebel.ws/bikelog/2009/11/yesterdays-ride-log.html. I'm posting here now my ride log for today.
From Manggahan to Parkwood in Pasig
Before I had to go for a long ride today, I visited my friend in Parkwood who is the organizer of Live for Others Movement. His house happened to be more than 4 kilometers from my house.
| Route: C. Raymundo Avenue | |
| Travel time: | 8.42AM - 9:00AM |
| Distance traveled: | 4.67 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 14.80 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 36.6 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 19.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
I just found out their subdivision policy weird. The security guard didn't allow entry of my bicycle to the subdivision but instead had it deposited at the gate. While if I visit there by car, it would just too easy for me to enter the subdivision.
From Parkwood Pasig to SM Southmall in Las Piñas
| Route: C. Raymundo Avenue - Pasig Rotunda - C5 - Global City - Fort Bonifacio - Bicutan/Sucat/Alabang via West Service Road - Alabang-Zapote Road | |
| Travel time: | 10:35PM - 12:10NN |
| Distance traveled: | 28.65 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 18.20 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 36.50 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 19.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
SM Southmall's bike rack is located just a few walking distance away from the right wing entrance so I didn't have to walk farther to my destination inside the mall.

My bike locked at the bike rack of SM Southmall.
SM Southmall to SM Sucat
During my ride from SM Southmall to SM Sucat, it was drizzling and thick dark clouds formed up in the sky. I worried that it would rain hard but I had to ride.
| Route: Alabang-Zapote Road - Las Piñas to Parañaque via Canaynay Avenue | |
| Travel time: | 1:40PM - 2:10PM |
| Distance traveled: | 8.40 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 16.80 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 36.10 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 15.00 kilometers per hour (the road is so bumpy) |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
SM Sucat to Harrison Plaza
| Route: NAIA Road - Roxas Blvd - P. Ocampo St. - Harrison St. | |
| Travel time: | 3:455PM - 4:15PM |
| Distance traveled: | 12.12 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 21.20 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 40.20 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 23.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
There is no bike rack in Harrison Plaza so I only had to lock my bike in a non-working lamp post. The risk of bike theft is possible as somebody who'll get interested in taking the bike can just lift it to the end of the pole and it will already be dettached from the lamp post. I asked an itinerant parking attendant to watch my bike for me.
After I locked my bike, heavy rain fell.
Harrison Plaza to Manggahan Pasig
The rain is very heavy I had to wait for it to stop before starting my ride going home.
The rain only stopped at 7:00pm. I unlocked my bike, gave a tip to the parking attendant and started to pedal home.
Before reaching EDSA, heavy rain fell down again. I was caught off-guard so I had to brought out the rain coat that my wife bought for me and wear it. I had to pedal slowly to avoid spray until I could reach flyover.
When already in EDSA, I couldn't move so slowly because cars are moving so fast. Despite of avoiding spray, I had to pedal hard to cope the speed of the traffic. Dirty roadwater is thrown into my back and my face from my rear and front wheel. I was moving at the speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
| Route: Harrison St. - Buendia - EDSA-Guadalupe - Pioneer St. - Meralco Avenue - Julia Vargas St. - Ortigas Avenue / Rosario | |
| Travel time: | 7:105PM - 8:18PM |
| Distance traveled: | 17.52 kilometers |
| Average speed: | 15.40 kilometers per hour |
| Maximum speed: | 41.50 kilometers per hour |
| Comfortable speed: | 15.00 kilometers per hour |
| Cadence, calorie burned, and heart rate not monitored. | |
When I arrived home, my wife is already there. She prepared hot water that I can use to clean up myself.
Overall, my ride for today totalled to 71.36 kilometers.
So far, I was able to put 641.3 kilometers into my bike.
Meanwhile, my riding shoes, gloves, and helmet are soaked with rain that I may not have any gears for my ride tomorrow. I may not be able to participate for the Critical Mass Ride tomorrow organized by Firefly Brigade.
