Theft Incident

About 3:30 this morning, or just an hour ago, two thieves broke our window and attempted to steal my laptop. The thieves were able to remove three glass slats of our jalousie window and reached out for the currently operating laptop. I had been uploading some files so I left the laptop powered on and working while my wife and I were asleep. Some noise awaken me and in the dark I saw a pair of hands manipulating my already closed laptop to get outside the window. I was shocked with what I saw but didn't waste time and grabbed my laptop to save it. The thief pulled it hard and we both grappled for the laptop. The commotion awaken my wife who right away recognized what's happening and started to shout, "Magnanakaw! Magnanakaw!"

The thief let go of the laptop and ran away. My pregnant wife and I rush outside the house to run after the thief. But the thief ran so fast my wife got only to see the back of the thief which is already very far. Neighbors were awaken by the noise. We saw two pairs of slippers left in the gate and we concluded that there were two of them who were trying to break our house. One neighbor confirmed that indeed there were two of them. She saw them, one is outside our house and the other one stayed at the gate. She didn't mind those thinking they could be us.

We couldn't see any barangay police when the incident happened.

My Sun Broadband Wireless modem is gone so I thought the bastards must have gotten it. Later, neighbors found it in the pathway. The thief must have dropped it in a rush when my wife and I ran after him. A few minutes before that, a boy without any slipper passed by and look at us. And some of the neighbors were wondering where did he comes from when there was no sight of somebody walking from afar. The neighbor who saw the two criminals confided that the one that she saw looks like that boy. We had the strong suspicion that it was one of the thief and must have hidden only behind the cars parked in the neighborhood. We had that in mind but the boy is no longer there.

We didn't lost anything from the burglary so far but that made me and my wife think to review our house security procedure.

Now, I can already value the neighbors reminder about my bicycle being a hot item in the eyes of petty criminals.

I couldn't sleep after the incident, especially that I got cuts and bruises in my right hand as a result of grappling my laptop from the bastard. Now, I'm blogging of the incident.

This is how my Sun Broadband Wireless modem is placed outside the window to receive some signals. Photographed in a daytime.

These would-be thieves live in your neighborhood.

@ Lutchi: I was thinking that too afterwards but I was unprepared of what had happened. Delikado ang shot gun. Pwede madamay ang mga silingan...

@ Sidney: I'm happy too that nothing is gone with the thief...

@ bertN: Our neighbors told us too. I was told the target of the thieves could be my laptop and my bicycle...

Gee, Dodong, you're really having a bad year, don't you? first your apartment was flooded, now, thieves! Better get something to protect yourselves...they might come back for your bike.
...and Jovy shouldn't be running after them, being pregnant and everything. (being protective here) ;)

Thank you very much, Ate Nance. Our neighbors will be helping us watch out against those thieves. We're now doubling our lock in the house especially that nobody stays there during daytime...

good thing you noticed them taking your laptop before it's too late. I can see that your house window has some metal frames or say barriers but they still got the face to sneak in, even only with their hands. I guess it's really time to change the jalousie into something sliding or which may be better. This only shows that your neighbors are that desperate and you should therefore find all means to keep your properties safe.

PUSANG-kalye, yes, our windows have grills but it was not even enough. Thieves and robbers can still get away with a few things if we won't be careful. I just hope this incident will not be repeated again...

Especially that nobody can feed the dog in the daytime as both of us go to work. What we do this time is to triple our lock and ask the neighbors to see our house every now and then...

That is scary. I think, you should put your laptop under lock and key while you're asleep. Jovy should've gotten a baseball bat, or a 2x4 and hit the hand of that &*%effin*%$ burglar. LOL Brave girl, though.

Thank God you're both safe.

Well, lucky ka kasi nakita ninyo pa... Naku! Maraming nangangailangan ngayon.l

Mangyan Adventurer, thank you for the suggestion.
