How to Get a Totally Free Website or Blog

Monday, September 14, 2009

Yes, a blog or web site with absolutely free domain and hosting. How do you like that?

Let me teach you how.

If you're reading this now, I must assume that you at least must have known already about the basics of web surfing and already had visited or at least knowledgeable of some Blogger blogger who got their own custom blog URL. Instead of the long generic URL e.g. http://my-sarisari-store-online-24x7.blogspot.com, it's a neat and personalized URL such as this, http://www.sarisaristore.co .cc. There, let me ask you. Which one is better?

Needless to say, a real domain name makes your site much more professional and easier to remember. Also, the less chances that your visitor could make a typo when typing your URL in the address bar of their favorite browser. The longer your URL, the better chance that you could lose potential visitors.

That's only two reasons why you need to have your own domain name. Here's more that I can enumerate:

  1. Your own domain name gives you a unique and memorable address with which to promote anything what have you.
  2. If you have your own domain name, you can bring your web site to the next level, i.e. you can move your website from the free Blogspot to a more flexible hosting provider using Wordpress. You can just export all your blog entries from Blogger to Wordpress. However, if you're only using a URL similar to the example above (http://my-sarisari-store-online-24x7.blogspot.com), you will not be able to transfer the domain since you actually don't have a domain you can call your own.

Right here, right now, I advice you to get your free domain name and set it up in Google Blogger (Blogspot). After all, the domain name is free and your blog contents will be hosted by Blogger for free. You don't have anything to lose.

First, find you desired domain name here. Next configure your Blogger site to start using that domain. That's it.

This is just to show you some of the live web sites I maintained without spending a single penny in my pocket.

So, what are you waiting for? Register now!
