Pimples in My Armpit
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
For the last few weeks I've been getting some very large pimples in my armpits, of which eight concentrated in my left. This is my first yet in my lifetime and I am pretty much annoyed by the petty pain it caused. I don't want to believe that it's a result of bad hygiene practice since I'm taking a bath in the morning regularly and occassional in the evening before going to bed.
This is obviously an infection caused by blockage of my sweat glands or sebaceous glands. I realized everything started when I was using a new brand of deodorant. I ran out of the regular deodorant I used and my wife hastily bought one for me from the convenience store. A few days after I started using it, my armpit felt itchy that I momentarily had to discontinue using the deodorant in the affected area. A few days more and pimples started to show in the itchy area. There were eight pimple actively growing every day.
But could it be that the change of deodorant be the culprit? I regularly use Old Spice High Endurance Pure Sport deodorant before my wife bought for me Rexona for Men deodorant. Does it mean that all deodorants are not created equal? Could it be that Rexona or any other locally produced deodorant for men contain some substance that could block your sweat glands or sebaceous glands and in the process caused some infection? I wondered.
I ignored about it for a couple of days thinking such pimples would just go away just the way pimples in my nose would. But it didn't. Last Saturday, it was getting red and hindered me into working the house chores. Last Sunday, it was getting so big and much painful. What started to be just just eight minor bumps had grown to a *boil-type lesion and the pain is becoming too severe to bear. It is just getting extremely painful if I have to raise my arms or flex my chest.
Came Monday and I went to see a doctor. I went to a medical clinic just beside the place I work. After a short time of waiting in line, I was called up. I was surprised to find out the doctor who is going to check me up is my friend and fellow photography enthusiast. He is the same doctor who removed a nodule in my forehead almost three years ago for free. Of course, I was glad it was him. He gave me a list of medicines to buy He also advised me of what to do with the infection, like keeping the affected area always clean and dry, and to wear loose and comfortable clothing. Again, he didn't charge me for a consultation fee - an offer I can't refuse from a good friend.
Yesterday, I was not feeling well that I didn't report to work. This ailment is just very untimely since my wife and I is quite busy in our preparation to transfer to another house next month. I couldn't easily move. I hope I could get rid of this pigsa very soon...
Moving Out, Moving In
My wife and I will be moving our command center from East Rembo in Makati to Floodway in Pasig City. While there are more advantages than disadvantages for this decision, certainly I really would miss walking from home to work and back. The photos below are just some of my collections taken using my mobile phone camera. I'd like to share this with you, readers. Please enjoy...

Guadalupe as seen while walking on top of Guadalupe Bridge in EDSA. Of course, I rarely passed here. My usual way walking is in C-5

This is the bridge I'm taking everyday from home to work in the morning and home to work in the evening. This was taken in the morning.

Pasig River as shown from above C-5.

Pasig River with water hyacinth.

Pasig River one hazy Sunday morning.

Pasig River after torrential rain occured the night before.

Pumpboat in Pasig River one early morning.

Pasig River during night time.

Pasig River as shown from above C-5 during night time. George and Cecil billboard can be seen to the left.

Pasig River as seen from C-5 at the height of Bagyon Isang. I was using my swapped umbrella at that time so I won't totally get wet. I was only wearing short pants at that time and brought along my office uniform inside my back pack.

I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. -

I think it's not. The doctor didn't diagnose it as such. I'll go visit the doctor again this Monday... -
