Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is A Must-See Movie

Monday, July 20, 2009

My wife and I watched the movie in SM Megamall last Sunday. I am an avid follower of Harry Potter movies and so is my wife. I think it's the best of the series given its balanced affair that routinely delivers entertainment in the form of flawless visuals and peppy dialogue.

The opening of the movie brought and introduced us to the land of Hogwarts and Muggles, Death Eaters, and Dumbledore finding Harry Potter who needed his help.

Minor characters i.e. Luna, Ginny, Cormac provide as much comedy as main characters Harry, Hermione, and Ron do comfort. Alan Rickman's Snape remains positively sublime, he's able to do more with a blank stare than most actors do in their entire careers. The movie is really typical of a Harry Potter series with the overarching sense of weirdness and magic.

The movie is long - 2 hours and thirty minutes to be exact, but we still prefer this over Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which was originally our first choice.

I am sure fans of the series will be pleased. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a difficult film to dislike, as care and concern has been injected into every millisecond of this stylish blockbuster. And now, I'm just wondering what will be the next sequel of this most awaited and one of the most followed film series in the film history.

I'm definitely watching this. When I went to Megamall to watch, I backed out at the last minute because the line was longggg. I thought, it's the same thing if I watch it two or three weeks later when the moviehouse is not that full anymore. More comfortable for me.

Hehehe. That's right, Abaniko. And besides, when we watched the movie, it was only single screening, so there was no way for us to review the movie :( If you watch this movie a few weeks from now, it's no longer single screening so you can repeat the program any moment you want. Also, there's no longer long line of Harry Potter fans you would like to beat.
Well, if not because of the persistent of my wife, we wouldn't have survived the long line. I myself is not patient enough for such kind of thing...

@ Meryl: Bring your husband with you when you watch this movie :)

@ Garando: Yes, movie ticket is so expensive nowadays that we can only watch movie once in a Blue Moon. If not for my wife, we shouldn't have watch movie last Sunday. Now that the movie budget was out, there's no more chance for the Transformer movie.

Hey Dodong. You know, I liked the movie too. I never used to follow HP, but since I came to NY, all of my friends here are die-hard fans so I made a point to watch all the movies on DVD before The Half Blood Prince came out. Most of my friends hated it! They said it was the worst HP movie ever....

anyways, I decided to read the book for myself to see why the movie was not as good as they expected. Anyways, I still liked the movie, but I'm realizing that the books are even better.

Hi, Angelo. Just like any other storybooks being brought in the silverscreen, still the story in the book is better. That's the same reflection that I was in with the films Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons...

I have a friend who is so much into Harry Potter books. She just loves to read and reread the book. LOL She's so much a fan of that actor who plays Harry.

In any event, it's good to hear that you enjoyed your day watching the movie.

    Have a great day!

Hey Dodong! I tried to comment on your last post, but the comments were disabled. Anyway, hope you feel better soon! It's funny coz I just realized that what I thought was a developing rash on my armpit was actually a tiny pimple.... amazing how something so small could cause so much trouble. Hope your problem clears up soon.

Hi, Dodong, I found your link thru Mari aka Rambling Soul. Bisdak man ko, taga Dumaguete, pero nia na nanimuyo sa LA, silingan ra mi diotay ni Mari (maybe 15 miles). I have worked in the downtown area forever, and it is just sad that some old buildings withe fine architecture are so dilapidated but there is the Conservancy group that is helping the upkeep and preservation. I will catch up reading your posts this weekend.
See you around...BTW, my daughter and I saw HP the first day....
