Honest Scrap
Sunday, April 12, 2009
I received an award from aDz, Ghee and Kris a few months back. The most unique award I received, so far. Thank you very much...
Here's the rule:
"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!"
My Ten Honest Things
- I learned to read before I could even remember. My late Papa is fond of reading Bisaya* magazine. Legend has it that I would disturb my Papa while he's reading that he would read aloud just to pacify me. The then 2-yr old naughty me would follow the lines while being read aloud by my Papa.
- Motion picture driving in some movie productions. I do the fancy driving for the main characters of the story. However, I didn't mind about the title of the movie and I didn't get to see those movies. Notable one is that of motorcycle stunts I did for a minor character of a supposed Rudy Fernandez - Donita Rose starrer.
- I missed jogging, bicycle rides and Sunday country driving.
Way back, I would bike around La Paz Plaza in Iloilo every morning. For me,
the place is simply an ideal place to move about whether you're biking,
walking, or even meditating.
I also would bike around Gold Loop and Pearl Drive in Ortigas Center on quiet Sundays. The place is my personal oasis in the midst of a commercial district (at least, during weekends).
Weekend morning jogs at QC Circle and/or around SM Southmall open parking space in Las Pinas.
Sunday morning drive from Metro Manila to Tanay via Marcos Highway. I also would coast-drive (freewheel driving) Tagaytay all the way to Bacoor. It sort of interested me. - Used to post photos at My Islands Philippines and Treklens. But I become very busy with work that getting online at work is going out of hand. I still can't afford for an Internet connection at home.
- I'm a keyboard user. Meaning, I'd rather use keyboard shortcuts of computer commands instead of using the mouse to click the command. I learned to use computer even before computer mice were introduced here in this country. I can also type a maximum of sixty words per minute**
- I used to visit laundry shops when I was still single. Now that I'm already married, I now wash myself mine and my wife's soiled clothings.
- I lost phone several times already, of which three of it are mobile phone cameras. Though not really high-end, such phonecams were specially to me because those were aimed to complement my existing SLR camera. I'd love taking photographs daily but since I cannot bring my bulky SLRs everyday, I should have a smaller camera fitted enough to be brought anywhere and anytime. Just today before posting this entry, I received a new phone from my wife as a gift, a 3 megapixel phonecam (more of it later).
- I love kimchi.
- 1999 to 2003 had been my struggling years to learn SMS (or texting as known in the Philippines). Not that I didn't know how to navigate the menus but it's the tapping of keys that got me challenged all the time. Even until this time, I'm still comfortable with calling than texting.
- I am a believer and follower of the Unification Principle, the core teaching of the Unification Church founded by Dr. Sun Myung Moon of South Korea.
* a Manila Bulletin publication circulating in
the Visayan-speaking areas in the country. Other publications include Liwayway,
Bannawag and Hiligaynon for Tagalog Regions, Northern Luzon and Panay Island
circulation respectively.
** As photographed (using phonecam) in a CRT monitor last November 16, 2007
after I finished my typing speed examination as I applied for a job in a call
center.
This is a very long overdue post so I won't specify any name though I'm tagging 7 bloggers listed in my love link...
AVG Free Will No Longer Be Updated
AVG
Anti-Virus software which is one of my most trusted anti-virus software since
2002 will no longer be updating version 7.5 which is presently installed in my
laptop computer. It is now being replaced with the 8.5 version. While the new
version is
still free, my problem is that this 8.5 version is no longer supporting Windows
2000 operating system which is exactly the operating system running in my
computer. In an ironic twist, AVG is giving me the deadline to download the
latest version exactly during my birthday. I cannot just upgrade to Windows XP
just to make my system compatible to the new version of AVG. I should guess it's
now time to say bye bye to AVG Free.
Birthday Gifts
My wife is very concern about my health that she's giving me a body bag to replace my backpack I'm using in my daily walk home and office to and fro. Backpack caused my back to get soaked with sweat that I'd sometimes get cough because of it. She reckoned replacing my backpack with another kind of bag not hanging in my back would be the solution against my cough.
She's also buying me new phone with a 3.0MP camera. If you're following my blog for quite sometime, you must read that sometime in February, my 2.0MP Sony Ericsson phonecam was lost to thieves. It was my wife's Valentine's gift to me.
My wife is very understanding. She knows how enthusiastic I am into photography but since I cannot bring with me my SLR everyday, she would always buy me a phonecam that I can bring anywhere, anytime.
I'll post the details of this 3.0 megapixel phonecam on a separate post sometime this month of April.
Those who would like to send me their birthday gifts may still do so. There are lots of time left yet. No idea what to give? Please see my wishlist ;)
Apologies
I apologize to my friends and those who frequented this site for my being inactive these few months that passed. My work is eating much of my time there was not much room getting online. My online presence is dependent at work since I don't have Internet connection at home. I wish I can unload a few responsibilities in my work so I can spare some amount of my time bloggging and bloghopping.
My most recent activities include the Cubao photoshoot last March 24 together with the well-known bloggers Dennis Villegas and Sydney Snoeck of Dennis Villegas and My Sari-Sari Store respectively. I'll post the photos sometime of this year. I also have a very enjoyable Lenten season activities that I may share sometime later, too. My North Cotabato Adventure will also be continued very soon.
Typical Sunday
My latest portrait as photographed this afternoon by my wife Jovy using her Sony
Ericsson phonecam. My typically Sunday afternoon is usually staying at home
finishing what's left undone in my reports. We no longer go to mall that much as
of this time. To celebrate my birthday, my wife simply bought a 750ml Trio
Ice Cream by Nestlé that we shared together. In this particular photo, I was
specifically writing this post offline. Later, I had to go to the Internet cafe
outside to check email, send reports, and blog (hopefully).
Happy Easter, everyone!

Happy Easter Dodong! It seems like a lot of bloggers have been really busy these past few months. I was one of those too, so I can totally relate. Hope you have more time to relax! Hope to be able to see your latest pics soon!
That's a lota honesty hehe... wow 60 wpm that's pretty fast! The Unification Church of Dr. Moon eh? That's cool! You and Jovy didn't get married in a mass wedding did you? That's what always pops into my head when I think of the Unification Church. I heard Dr. Moon used to arrange marriages? I'm pretty sure you and Jovy chose each other though :) Hope marital bliss is going well for the two of you! Take care. -
