2006 La Union Snapshots

Monday, February 25, 2008

It's Monday, and proclaimed a holiday in celebration of 22nd EDSA Revolution. No work. I should have gone to Baguio for the Panagbenga Festival. I should have... But now I'm stuck here in my small cubicle in the office. Looking at the schedule of the festival from this link, I could only reminisced those times when I went to Baguio and La Union, at Tito Tom's house. Finally, I decided to continue my 2006 Baguio City Snapshots that I had posted here a few days back. After all, I'm not going anywhere today.

From Baguio City, after we witnessed the Panagbenga Festival, we went down to Tito Tom's place in La Union. By that time, he and family lived in Paringao, Bauang. Along the way, while the bus we were on maneuvered to every corner, I was also very busy fingering the trigger. And these are few of the resultant photos down here. Not impressive, I tell you, but modest photos.

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/500 sec / F-stop: f/2.8 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 7.2mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 2:46pm)

The photo above is just one of the few scenic views along Naguilian Highway. To take a photo like this is even more challenging when you're on a moving bus. I used the faster shutter speed I can handle at 1/500 seconds combine with a wide aperture opening so I can get a sharper photo instead of a blurry one. The other one was posted sometime ago last year. It can be found from this link: http://travelogue.digitalrebel.ws/2006/11/panagbenga-festival-remembered-and.html.

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/90 sec / F-stop: f/2.8 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 7.2mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 2:50pm)

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/180 sec / F-stop: f/4.9 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 7.2mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 2:57pm)

Fishermen's Talk. Another photo below was taken at the back of Tito Tom's house. It's a nice La Union seaside back there with fishermen who would go out to sea to catch fish in the early morning or late afternoon.

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/350 sec / F-stop: f/6.7 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 25mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 26, 2006 11:13am)

My host, Tito Tom and wife Julie.

Documenting sundown...

MIP Post Valentine EB

Saturday, February 23, 2008

A meeting of enthusiastic photography hobbyists who are trying to promote the beauty of the Philippines one shot at a time, we gathered at Dencio's Place in Harbour Square last night, a Friday, February 22. The place is the same venue that we had during the very first MIP meeting in January 27, 2006.

I arrived late so I wasn't able to take photos of the sorroundings unlike the first time we were there. Well, at least, I snapped a few photos from the group.

MIP Masters

Canon 300D / Shutter Speed: 1/6 sec / F-stop: f/5.0 / ISO Setting: 3200 / focal length: 42mm /flash: off / mount: handheld

Since I wasn't able to take outdoor photos last night, I'm now refreshing memories of what North Harbour Square was two years ago, by posting one photo that I had found in one of my online photo archive.

2006 Baguio City Snapshots

Saturday, February 9, 2008

The following photos were photographed as marginal fun in my photo adventure with my friend Tito Tom and wife Julie during the Panagbenga Festival last February 25, 2006 (see my blog entry here / Multiply album here). I could have gone to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta early morning today if I have had the convenience of time. Given that I'm confine in the four corners of my cubicle instead, so I'm posting these few "unposted" photos of Baguio - unposted, meaning, I haven't had posted these photos even in any other sites before. Fortunately for me, I accidentally found these photos while browsing my digital photo archive a few days ago.

This was Burnham Park at 7 in the morning.

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/350 sec / F-stop: f/4.0 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 6mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 7am)

Just a few of the Panagbenga Festival spectators waited at the park for the event to start.

Asus V66 / Shutter Speed: 1/20 sec / F-stop: f/2.8 / ISO Setting: 200 / flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 7am)

Walking around the park early in the morning with my friend Thomas Glenn a.k.a. Tito Tom, together with his wife Julie, this was the scene we've got to see.

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/90 sec / F-stop: f/2.8 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 6mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 7am)

Kodak Z700 / Shutter Speed: 1/350 sec / F-stop: f/4.9 / ISO Setting: 80 / focal length: 30mm /flash: off / mount: handheld (Feb. 25, 2006 8am)
